Editorial policy
Rates across the site were last checked on 31 October 2026.
A calculator is only useful if you can trust its numbers. This page explains where the numbers on sbicalculator.com come from and what we do when they change. Everything here is written and reviewed by Vishal Jethwani (about).
Sources we use
- SBI deposit and loan rates: SBI's official interest-rate pages at sbi.bank.in (formerly sbi.co.in), including the retail term-deposit card rate, EBLR/RLLR and MCLR notices.
- PPF, SSY, SCSS, NSC, Post Office MIS: the quarterly interest-rate notification issued by the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.
- Tax rules (TDS, deductions, Form 15G/15H): the Income Tax Department (incometax.gov.in) and the Union Budget documents for the relevant year.
- NPS and Atal Pension Yojana: PFRDA and the official NPS/APY scheme documents.
- Mutual fund categories: SEBI's scheme categorisation rules. We do not predict or promise fund returns; SIP and lump-sum pages use an assumed return that you can change.
Formulas
- Fixed deposits and RDs: quarterly compounding, A = P × (1 + r/4)4t, the method SBI uses for term deposits of six months or more.
- Loans: the reducing-balance EMI formula, EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n / ((1 + r)n − 1), with r as the monthly rate.
- PPF, SSY, NSC: annual compounding as specified in the scheme rules.
- SIP: future value of a monthly annuity-due with monthly compounding of the assumed annual return.
Each calculator page shows a worked example generated from its default inputs using the same formula as the interactive tool, so you can verify the result independently.
How often pages are reviewed
- After every RBI monetary policy announcement, when SBI usually revises its loan benchmarks and often its deposit rates.
- At the start of each quarter, when the government announces small savings rates.
- After each Union Budget, for changes to tax and TDS rules.
Every calculator page shows the date it was last reviewed, under its heading.
What we do not do
- We do not give personalised investment, tax or legal advice.
- We do not accept payment to feature or rank any product, and advertisers and partners cannot influence our content.
- We do not collect the numbers you type into calculators; all calculations run in your browser.
How we earn
sbicalculator.com is free to use. We earn from advertising and from affiliate partner links. Some calculator pages show a box labelled "Partner offer" for a related product, such as a credit card, savings account or insurance policy. If you apply through that link, we may receive a commission from the provider or the affiliate network (Cuelinks), at no extra cost to you.
- Partner offers appear only below the calculator, never inside it, and are always labelled.
- We choose partners from regulated banks and insurers, and we do not promote instant-loan apps or crypto products.
- Partner relationships never change a calculation, a rate we publish or what a guide recommends.
- Approval, pricing and terms are decided by the provider, not by us. Always read the provider's terms before applying.
Corrections
If a rate is out of date or a result does not match what your bank quoted, please email [email protected] with the page link and what you expected to see. We check every report, usually within two working days, and update the page and its review date when a correction is made.
